Spare Tire Collectibles started business in 1997, and is owned by John & Patti Young. The business was started because we wanted to celebrate Hamilton-Wilber's 50th anniversary with Mobil Oil Corp.
First Gear of Peosta, Iowa produced the 1953 white tanker with our name on the truck (19-1931). We started collecting Mobil memorabilia and die cast trucks in early 1990.
We decided to start a part-time business of producing and selling die cast trucks. In October 1999 we produced our second truck, a 1960 B-61 Mack (Mobil) tow truck (19-2448). In January 2000 we produced a die cast vintage 5 gallon oil can bank (Mobil) (80-0172) all by First Gear. They were all in 1/34 scale.
My wife & I have owned & operated Hamilton-Wilber Oil Co. for the past 31 years. We are located in the Finger Lakes region on Owasco Lake. Moravia is a small rural community of approximately 1500 population. Our specialty is Mobil die cast trucks manufactured by First Gear of Peosta, Iowa. But we do carry others, Ertl, Liberty Classics/Speccast, Crown Premium/Vees & Gear Box.
